Microchipping

It is now law that all dogs and cats are microchipped, sadly rabbits are not considered their equal, therefore, no law has been passed for them to be chipped too!

 

As a rescue we are seeing increasing numbers of stray rabbits coming through our doors. Imagine if these were all chipped and reunited with their worried carers taking the pressure off rescues in the current rabbit crisis.

When a stray rabbit joins us we have no way of knowing any history including vaccine and neuter status. Without this information it unfortunately means putting female rabbits through an anaesthetic and surgery to occasionally find out they were already spayed. This is an unnecessary operation for the rabbit and cost for the rescue.

Most people don't consider getting their rabbits microchipped but we offer this service because we know how important it is for them to have equal status to other family pets.
